Fire razes part of Customs warehouse in Lagos

Harboursansport.com: Lagos --- Part of Customs warehouse Ikeja was yesterday gutted by fire from explosion from gas cylinders resulting in the destruction of six trailers; one of which was loaded with rice, as well as 15 other vehicles.

Three persons, Bashiru, Ahmed and Mohammed said to be

involved in earlier efforts to put out the fire before the arrival of the fire fighters almost lost their after inharing o
smoke from the fire.
The three men were rescued and later treated by men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LSEMA). Two of them were placed on oxygen in two of the several vans brought by officials LSEMA.
The fire which started at about 2 pm from the gas cylinder used to power the brake of one of the seized trucks, would have caused more demand at the warehouse filled with assorted smuggled items impounded by the Service. But for the quick response of men of the Lagos State Fire Service, LSFS, the damage would have been more.
The Customs Area Controller, CAC of the Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Mohammed Ubar Gberba, expressed happiness that the fire was put out on time to avoid the it spreeding.
The Controller said that the fire started from one of the trucks containing cylinders which exploded as a result of the harmmatan period. He also commended men of the Lagos state service for their fast response. 
Deputy Director of the LSFS, Musibau Rasaki, said that they are glad the fire has been brought under control.
Rasaki said Even though the fire has been brought under control, they still intend to soak the affected are which was still smoking to prevent reoccurance.
The Deputy Director further said that they may likely leave a truck behind if it is necessary.
