Harboursandport.com: Lagos ---- The Port Harcourt Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collectted over N21 billion in the first half of the 2018.
A statement made available to Harboursandport.com, signed by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ivara Oscar, indicates a revenue surplus of N3,2 million when compared to N17,76 recorded in the same period in 2017.
Ivara noted that the Customs Area Controller, (CAC) Isiyaku Kabiru, said that the Command was able to tackle revenue drawbacks due to frequent consultations with relevant stakeholders, capacity building programmes for officers, parley with importers and exporters in the South West and South South states of the country, among others.
Kabiru stated: “The command has fared well in the generation of the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme, NESS, with a total value of N2,18 billion in the period under review against N866.9 billion which was generated in the 2017 fiscal year.
"The compliance rate of the command on the policy has
been very high and my public relations approach has also attributed in taking
the command from its earlier state of disenchanted business community, staff
low self-esteem, insecurity, economic sabotaging, among others to a more
vibrant purpose driven and transformed status,” he said.
