A maritime expert, Samuel Ogunta, has commended the Federal Government for commissioning of Baro River port, noting that it will in decongesting the seaport.

Ogunta disclosed this while reviewing a book, "Foot Prints of President Muhammadu Buhari in the Maritime Industry," explained that the importance of the maritime industry to the nation's economy cannot be over emphasised.
He noted that the book chronicled the achievements of the present administration in the maritime industry.
He said the book authored by the Shipping Correspondents Association Of Nigeria (SCAN), will bring more insight in to the maritime sector as well as the economy of Nigeria.
Also, speaking at the book launch, Sokonte Hutton Davies, Executive Director Marine and Operations, Nigeria Port Authority, NPA said the book will be of a great value to the economy of Nigeria as well as attract more Nigerians especially the young ones to have a full knowledge of maritime sector and invest in the business.
The president of the shipping correspondents association of Nigeria SCAN Mr. Yusuf Babalola also expresses happiness at the event. In his closing remarks, Yusuf said the association has been playing key role in the maritime industry and will continue to play active role in the maritime sector as well as contribute to the nation's GDP in the nearest future.
