Customs Sacks 2 ACGs, Others Over Petroleum Smuggling, Botched Rice Raid In Daura

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has compulsorily retired two Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) and other personnel over alleged corrupt acts.

One of the ACG is Bashir Abubakar, celebrated as poster boy of anti-corruption fight for rejecting a $412,000 bribe from Tramadol drug traffickers.
Abubakar was alleged to have maliciously ordered a botched raid on a warehouse of a prominent local rice dealer while searching for imported rice in Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s home town.
Aminu Dahiru, the other ACG was dismissed for alleged complicity in the cross border smuggling of refined petroleum products in a large convoy of 170 oil tankers.
Other rank and file personnel of the Service were also affected by the massive purge effected by the Customs high command on Thursday.
