APC non-NWC NEC faction writes Buni, seeks recognition

Harboursandport.com: Abuja - A faction of the Non-National Working Committee Forum of the National Executive Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has written the Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee to present its executive members and Board of Trustees BoT.

The Forum is made up of party officials who are not part of the NWC but who are members of the National Executive Committee NEC of the party.
The faction, operating under the aegis of APC NEC Integrity Group in a letter dated July 1, 2020 listed its new officials.
The letter was jointly signed by Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Saadu (Chairman) and David Okumba (Secretary).
While it presented a 17-member executive, the group unveiled a BoT of five members led by an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Nasiru Dani.
The APC Integrity Group had hailed President Muhammadu Buhari over the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party adding that the Caretaker Committee will engender genuine reconciliation and peace in the party.
The group described the emergence of Mai Mala Buni, the Yobe State governor, to chair the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee as a well thought out move.
The group assured the Gov. Mai Mala led Caretaker Committee of its support and readiness to work with it in order to restore the party to the oath of progress.
"As NEC members, we are always ready and available for the Caretaker committee and shall support  the committee  in whichever way required in the cause of steering the party's affairs", they pledged.
On June 25 when the NWC was dissolved, some members of the forum had also announced the sack of the Nelson Alapa-led executive.
Acting Publicity Secretary of the new executive, Muhammed Sani Ibrahim had in a statement said; "On behalf of the majority members of the non-NWC, I am saddled to announce the decision of the members of the NEC to express the displeasure of the members due to the leadership failure, ineffectiveness, uncooperative attitude, lack of transparency and accountability in stewardship, financial misappropriation, and party unfaithfulness.
"The forum's caretaker committee led by Hon. Nelson Alapa and eleven others is hereby dissolved with immediate effect. In its place, a three-man committee is hereby agreed to run the affairs of the forum in an acting capacity, pending when a proper election will be held.

"The officers are Acting Chairman, Hon.  Abubakar Fakai, acting Secretary, David Okumagba and acting Publicity Secretary, Hon Muhammed Sani Ibrahim."
However, two days later, the Alapa-led executive fired back, stating that they were still intact.
Secretary of the Alapa-led executive, Hon. Oluremi Omolaoye in a statement had said the purported dissolution of the Hon. Nelson Alapa led Non-NWC NEC Forum by Fakai and two others were null and void.
He said, "the purported dissolution as announced by Ibrahim has no legal grounds because the whole house which elected the Hon. Alapa-led leadership remains the only qualified body to exercise such a power over her leadership and not by a disaffected section of the body".
