Maritime Workers Unveils In-House Magazine

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN has unveiled its in-house magazine which the union said will help educate both its members and the general public of the activities of the union.

Speaking at the unveiling of the magazine, the President General of MWUN, Adewale Adeyunju, said that the magazine is also expected to promote harmonious working environment that would stimulate industrial peace, as well as represent the voice of the voiceless and project alternative voices where necessary.

According to him, “I wish to state that the primary purpose of this magazine is to promote harmonious working environment that would stimulate industrial peace, to represent the voice of the voiceless and to project alternative voices where necessary. 



“The concept of the Blue Economy, otherwise called marine economy emerged as a response to threats posed by the reckless use of the oceans. The Blue Economy is gaining popularity in development circles among nations.



“It is instructive to note that Nigeria is a maritime nation blessed with valuable water resources that contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of our country in terms of foods, mineral resources and marine transport. 



In her address, the chairman of Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria, STOAN, who presided over the unveiling; Vicky Haastrup commended MWUN’s commitment to sectoral growth, praising Adeyanju’s leadership and expressing support.
