FG Reinstates Intels As Service Boat Operation For Lagos Pilotage District

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Federal Government has directed the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to reinstate Messrs. Intels Nigeria Limited to resume Service Boat Operations for the Lagos Pilotage District with effect from this month.



The Federal Government through presidential directives dated August 18th, 2023, and the consent judgement of the Federal High Court date 21st September, 2023, the NPA has extended the Service Boat Operations between it and Intels Nigeria Ltd.





Although details of the contract are sketchy as at press time, a letter from NPA addressed to shipping companies confirms the above.




The letter dated November 30th, 2023 and signed by Mr. Charles B. Okaga, read in part, 
"This is to kindly inform that sequel to the presidential directives dated Aug 18th, 2023, and the consent judgement of the Federal high Court date 21st Sept, 2023; the Authority has extended the service boat operation between it and intels Nigeria Ltd."






The letter titled "Reinstatement of Intel's nig Ltd as the authority service boat operations monitoring providers in the pilotage district", further stated "Further to the above and to support the Authority's and the Federal Government's drive to increase revenue generation from the Service Boat Operations, Messrs. Intels Nigeria Ltd has been directed to resume services immediately. 









"This is in line with the extended contract contained in the Managing Agency Agreement conveying the scope of Service, in addition to the obligation to the Agent.
"Consequences upon the above, you are hereby directed to ensure that Intels Nigeria Ltd is allowed unrestricted access to information to pilotage movement and to be provided with assistance to successfully commence operations as the Authority's Managing Agent on Service Boat Operations in the Lagos Pilotage District," the letter stated.
