Harboursandports.com: Lagos- December 1, 2024: The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has ordered the immediate dissolution  of all overtime cargo committees at the Command level over alleged missing consignments at some Commands.

Harboursandport.com authoritatively gathered that the decision was made following several complaints of missing overtime consignments at some Commands.

The Customs boss has also directed that a new committee be reconstituted to oversee issues relating to overtime cargo at the various Commands.

Confirming this to Harboursandport.com, the National Public Relations Officers of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, said that the CG's decision is a normal internal routine.

According to him, "It is a regular internal administrative process that has nothing to do with the external public."

Asked whether the decision is related to missing consignments at some Commands, he said, "Those are your words. As I said, it is a regular internal alignment. It has nothing to do with the external public."

A source close to Customs said the decision is intended to improve efficiency and simplify processes throughout Customs operations.

Another source confirmed to Harboursandport.com that some overtime consignments were missing at a particular Command, stressing that some persons, including Customs officers were actually detained by the police recently.

  1. CG has the power to either constitute body or dissolve, my concern and plea is that they should stop auctioning our trucks for offences that are not totally our {truckers} fault.
