Harboursandport.com: Lagos State, Nigeria - March 6, 2025: To improve access to affordable basic necessities and enhance the overall experience for members, the MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative is launching the WoFHoF Co-operative Multi-Purpose Society. This new cooperative will feature automated systems and real-time digital platforms to streamline operations and provide members with a modern, convenient experience.

The unveiling and inauguration ceremony for the WoFHoF Co-operative Multi-Purpose Society will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Festac Town, Lagos. The event will feature a number of notable guests, including Prince Olayiwole Shittu, CEO of Skelas Group; Rear Admiral Anthony Amauche (rtd), former FOC Sea Training, Nigerian Navy; Dr. Ada Onwuka, a seasoned banker and financial services consultant; and Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, the Honorable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Co-operative.
The event will also feature guest speakers and a corporate Road-Walk by women and men to commemorate the 2025 International Women's Day (IWD). Mrs. Adaku Okam, former Director of Human Resources at the Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC), will chair the event.
The organizers, in a press statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, stated that the inauguration of the WoFHoF Co-operative Multi-Purpose Society is intended to highlight the crucial role of women in building sustainable homes and businesses within every society. The event, which coincides with International Women's Day, will feature the Acting Executive Secretary, Ms. Chinwe Okafor-Mefor.
The WoFHoF Co-operative Multi-Purpose Society, registered under the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Co-operative, is planning to adopt the State's co-operative insurance policy. This policy will help mitigate risks associated with sudden deaths, accidents, and other forms of incapacitation. The organization is also open to collaborations and partnerships with financial institutions, government agencies, and other associations.
According to Okafor-Mefor, the Managing Partner of Temerity International Experts Limited, Mrs. Temilade Oguniyi is billed to speak at the event on the topic: “Modelling Women for Career and Business Growth” while, the Lagos Zonal Commander, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons(NAPTIP), Mrs. Comfort Agboko, will speak on “ Quit Gender-Based Violence in Work and Business Places”.
WoFHoF Co-operative Multi-purpose Society is an initiative of the MMS WoFHoF Initiative, a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on gender inclusion, leadership, mentorship, capacity building and role modeling for younger generations. With close to 120 distinguished role models as Hall of Famers and Amazons, it has empowered over 3000 women in different capacities over the years.
