Harboursandport.com:Lagos- July 13, 2025: From the office of Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe, the weeks of planning and preparation had all led to one glorious culmination: the 2nd Quarter 2025 Customs, Sister Agencies and Stakeholders Sports Competition.

As host of the event, Comptroller Awe stood proudly as the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, graced the final match with his presence—a moment that felt nothing short of divine intervention.

For Awe, the event was more than just sport; it was a statement of unity, teamwork, and camaraderie.

In his words, “We’ve been at this for two months,” he explained to journalists.

“Volleyball, badminton, table tennis, football—each game a chance for officers and sister agencies to connect beyond their formal duties.”

The football finale between NAHCO and SAHCO, ending in a thrilling penalty shootout, was the cherry on top.

NAHCO clinched the victory, and with perfect timing, CGC Adeniyi arrived to present medals and trophies—a surprise that Awe couldn't have predicted.

Recalling their conversation two weeks prior, Awe shared how he’d mentioned the final match to the CGC. “I never thought he’d show up,” he said with genuine awe, “but there he was—present, engaged, and ready.

Even when we were navigating meetings all day, he made time. That speaks volumes.”

The CGC also took the opportunity to discuss his operational visit with FAAN, touching on innovations and tech advancements. Yet, he acknowledged the power of fellowship in the field: “What better way to wrap up a successful day than with an evening of fun and entertainment?”

Awe expressed pride—not only for the event’s success but for the sense of unity it fostered. Though he downplayed the idea of forming a permanent football team due to space constraints, he emphasized that the goal was enjoyment and togetherness.

“This is just the beginning,” Awe hinted. “We’ve built something special here, and we’ll continue to do so, year after year.”
