Akutah Applauds Tinubu’s Economic Reforms, Says Export Trade Is Thriving

Harboursandport.com: Abuja, Nigeria — August 14, 2025: The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC, Akutah Pius,, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, describing it as a game-changer for Nigeria’s export trade and maritime development.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Conference of Benue Journalists in Abuja, Akutah said the President’s policies have reinvigorated the manufacturing sector and significantly boosted export activity. “In the past, vessels often departed Nigerian ports empty due to low export volumes. Today, we’re witnessing a surge in outbound cargo, signaling a major shift in trade dynamics,” he stated.

Akutah also lauded the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, calling it a strategic move to unlock Nigeria’s vast ocean resources. He praised the Minister, Adegboyega Oyetola, for initiating the country’s first national policy on marine and blue economy, which he said will position Nigeria to benefit from the trillion-dollar global maritime industry.

Highlighting infrastructure strides under his leadership, Akutah pointed to ongoing developments in inland dry ports and logistics hubs aimed at connecting Nigeria’s hinterlands to global trade routes. He emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader vision to make Nigeria the maritime gateway of West Africa.

The visiting delegation, led by Emmanuel Anule, commended Akutah’s achievements at the NSC and pledged the association’s support in promoting the sector’s progress. Anule also praised the federal government’s inclusive approach to governance, noting the appointment of Benue indigenes to key national positions.

Akutah concluded by reaffirming the NSC’s commitment to supporting the federal government’s economic agenda and ensuring Nigeria’s continued growth in global trade.
