Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria — August, 2025: The National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents, NCJTFLCA has firmly denied reports suggesting it intends to establish checkpoints along the Lagos-Badagry-Seme Expressway, describing the claims as baseless and contrary to its mission.
The association’s President, Basil Chudi Nwolisa dismissed the allegations as “unfounded,” reiterating its commitment to reducing, not increasing, the number of roadblocks on Nigeria’s highways.
“There was no such intention, and there were no such plans,” Nwolisa stated. “It is illogical to conceive that a group whose advocacy has led to the dismantling of many illegal roadblocks would now be setting up one.”
He highlighted that NCJTFLCA’s nationwide campaign has successfully led to the removal of 60 per cent of illegal checkpoints, significantly easing the burden on freight operators and improving logistics efficiency.
Nwolisa further assured stakeholders that under his leadership, the taskforce would never engage in activities that undermine its core values or the interests of the logistics and freight-forwarding community.
“We are reformers, not troublemakers,” he emphasized. “Our goal is to support our people, not subject them to additional stress and hardship.”
The clarification comes amid growing concerns over the proliferation of unauthorized checkpoints along key trade corridors, which have drawn criticism from industry players and government agencies alike.
NCJTFLCA’s stance reinforces ongoing efforts to streamline border operations and uphold Nigeria’s commitments under regional trade agreements such as the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
