NIMASA Board Pledges Support to Executive Management, Reaffirms Commitment to Maritime Growth

 Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria – August 12, 2025The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA has pledged unwavering support to the Agency’s Executive Management, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s maritime sector and actualizing a sustainable Blue Economy.



During its inaugural meeting in Lagos, Board Chairman Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar emphasized the Board’s resolve to collaborate closely with the Management to fulfill NIMASA’s mandate.

“As you may know, the Management of the Agency has signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as the Key Performance Indicators to measure the Agency’s achievements,” Abubakar stated. 

“As a Board, we are determined to work with the Management to ensure the full realization of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency.”

Director General and CEO of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, welcomed the Board members and reaffirmed the Agency’s dedication to promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environmental protection.

A statement signed by NIMASA’s Head of Public Relations, Osagie Edward, highlighted the significance of the Board’s support, noting “This alignment between the Governing Board and Executive Management is a strategic boost for the Agency. It signals a unified approach to strengthening maritime infrastructure, attracting investment, and building human capacity in line with the Federal Government’s vision,” the NIMASA helmsman.

The meeting marks a pivotal moment for NIMASA, as both governance and leadership structures unite to drive impactful reforms and position Nigeria as a leading maritime nation.
