Harboursandportcom: Lagos-September 30, 2025:The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), have issued a public statement announcing the temporary closure of all private and commercial jetties/terminals along five cowries creek, inorder to facilitate the successful hosting of the E1 Championship, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing tournament with the Lagos series scheduled to take place along the five cowries creek.
The statement which was released by the public relations unit of LASWA, on the 29th of September ,2025, is aimed at notifying the general public, ferry operators, passengers, and all stakeholders in the waterways sector that along the Five Cowries Creek will be partially closed from Friday, 3rd October to Sunday, 5th October 2025.
The report states that, on Thursday October 2, 2025, there will be partial closure from Falomo bridge to Oriental hotel between 10 am and 6 pm, and on Friday October 3, 2025, there will be total closure from Oriental Hotel to Mekwen bridge between 10 am and 6 pm; while on Saturday October 4 and on Sunday October 5, there will be total closure from Falomo bridge to Oriental Hotel between 8 am and 6 pm daily.
According to the report, The waterways restriction is to create a vital safety and security measure to ensure seamless event operations, safeguard lives, and project Lagos as a world-class destination for international sporting events; as normal operations of the affected ferry routes is expected to resume on Monday, 6th October 2025.
They urge all waterway users to kindly cooperate by making use of alternative ferry routes and make travel arrangements ahead of time; appreciating them for their patience and understanding as they work together to deliver this historic world championship.
