Nigeria’s Port Chief Engages Global Maritime Experts At IAPH2025 In Kobe, Japan

Harboursandport.com: Kobe, Japan – October 8, 2025: The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho, is currently participating in the World Port Conference (#IAPH2025) in Kobe, Japan, alongside the Authority’s Executive Directors of Finance & Administration and Marine & Operations.

Held at Hotel Ōkura Kobe, the conference is themed “Reinvention and Prosperity in Turbulent Times” and brings together port executives, policymakers, and maritime industry leaders from over 89 countries to address critical challenges facing the global port sector.

Key discussions at the event center on energy transition, decarbonization, digitalization, and resilience—topics that align closely with NPA’s strategic goals. Notably, the Authority’s recent Memorandum of Understanding with APM Terminals to electrify container freight operations reflects its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing port automation.

Dantsoho is also scheduled to tour Kobe’s advanced port facilities, with a focus on seismic-resilient infrastructure and smart logistics systems. These insights are expected to inform NPA’s ongoing Port Modernization Program aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability across Nigeria’s ports.

On the sidelines of the conference, the NPA boss is engaging with global investors and exploring strategic partnerships to support infrastructure upgrades and equipment renewal across Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The participation underscores Nigeria’s growing role in global port governance and its commitment to sustainable development in the face of evolving economic and environmental challenges.
