‎Harboursandportcom:Lagos-Nigeria, October 18, 2025: The TinCan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS, have concluded its week long Senior Officers in-house training programme , designed to enhance their capacity, professionalism, and operational efficiency.

‎The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, who was on ground to open the training, emphasized the importance of continuous learning in strengthening the Service’s human capital; charging the officers to maximize the opportunity by applying the knowledge gained to their daily operations.

‎The training which ,brought together officers from various units and departments for intensive knowledge-sharing sessions; started on Monday, October 13 , and ran through to Friday October 17, 2025; within the Command premises.


‎Compt Onyeka stated that “This training is not just a routine exercise but an investment in the growth of our personnel, I urge all officers to put the lessons learned into practice and strive for excellence in service delivery."

‎He also revealed that the Command plans to extend similar capacity-building exercises to junior officers soon, ensuring that every cadre benefits from the initiative.

‎In his closing remarks, Comptroller Onyeka reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to building a skilled, knowledgeable, and proactive workforce capable of meeting the dynamic challenges of modern customs operations; and this week-long exercise reflects Tincan Command’s renewed drive to foster excellence, innovation, and efficiency in customs administration

‎Topics covered included Physical Examination, Reputation Management, Risk Management, Documentary Checks, Evidence Exploitation, Customs Procedure Codes, Classification, VIN Valuation, and the Customs Code of Conduct; and Resource persons for the training were drawn from within the Command, demonstrating the depth of internal expertise.


‎Participants lauded the Command for organizing the impactful programme. Assistant Controller Rose Bonat of the Transire Unit described it as a “laudable and forward-thinking initiative,” noting that the sessions provided updated insights and practical tools that would enhance her job performance.

‎ “This training has broadened my understanding and equipped me with tools directly applicable to my role. I commend the leadership of the Command for investing in the professional growth of officers,” AC Bonat said.
