Boboye Oyeyemi Unveils Project 2027 As New CILT Nigeria President

Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria - November 27, 2025: Boboye Oyeyemi has been sworn in as the 21st President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CILT Nigeria, with a bold agenda to transform the institute through his flagship initiative, Project 2027

The investiture ceremony, held in Lagos, also witnessed the swearing-in of other members of the national council.

Oyeyemi explained that Project 2027 would focus on securing legislative recognition for CILT Nigeria, granting statutory authority to regulate professional standards and protect its chartered status.

He emphasized that the initiative would strengthen the institute’s credibility both nationally and globally, while positioning it as a leader in logistics and transport across Africa.

The new president outlined eight strategic pillars that will guide the transformation agenda between 2025 and 2027.

These include membership growth, institutional reforms, innovation, governance, digital services, inclusivity, and international leadership. He stressed that after 67 years, CILT Nigeria was ready for renewal, united in building a modern, globally aligned institute grounded in fellowship, credible advocacy, and purposeful stewardship.

Government officials and dignitaries at the event commended Oyeyemi’s vision. The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, described him as a visionary leader whose contributions to logistics, transport, and road safety made him deserving of the role. Oyetola urged CILT Nigeria to collaborate closely with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN to bridge gaps in standards, certification, and policy implementation.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, who chaired the occasion, highlighted the importance of embracing innovation such as artificial intelligence and robotics in the logistics sector.

He noted that logistics today is about “moving value through speed, transparency, and standards,” and called on Oyeyemi to strengthen collaboration, promote multimodal transport policies, and ensure the sector contributes fully to national development.

Renowned Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, who served as special guest of honor, applauded Oyeyemi’s emergence and expressed optimism that his tenure would usher in innovations. Similarly, Prof. Kayode Oyesiku, a fellow of CILT, delivered the investiture lecture stressing that leadership in the institute must be anchored on integrity, accountability, and resource management. He added that progress in the coming years would depend on advocacy, partnerships, training, and sustaining credibility among members.

Outgoing president, Mrs. Mfon Usoro, in her valedictory remarks, revealed that CILT Nigeria currently has 2,021 active members across different categories, including fellows, chartered members, affiliates, and students. She noted that Nigeria achieved territory status in 2014 and remains the only CILT territory in Africa. Usoro highlighted achievements such as digitization, restructured annual conferences, and expanded collaborations, while expressing confidence that Oyeyemi’s leadership would consolidate these gains and drive the institute into a new era of growth.
