Shippers’ Council Intervenes In Sifax, AGL Dispute

Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria - May 26, 2026: The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC has once again demonstrated its pivotal role as the economic regulator of the nation’s ports, following a swift intervention in an operational dispute between SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics.



The disagreement, which centered on the berthing of a vessel operated by AGL Logistics, was promptly addressed by the Council’s Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Akutah Pius. His timely mediation ensured that the matter was resolved amicably, preventing potential disruption to port operations.



According to the Council, the intervention underscores its commitment to ensuring seamless port operations, promoting trade facilitation, and maintaining industrial harmony within Nigeria’s maritime sector. Shippers Council also emphasized the importance of optimal utilization of terminal facilities and protecting Nigeria’s maritime image through sustained collaboration among industry stakeholders.



The engagement concluded with a mutual resolution on cargo evacuation and improved operational synergy between the parties. 

Both SIFAX Group and AGL Logistics expressed appreciation for the Council’s quick response, commending Pius and the NSC for their effective regulatory role.



This development further reinforces the Council’s position as a stabilizing force in the maritime industry, ensuring that disputes are resolved swiftly to safeguard the efficiency and reputation of Nigeria’s ports.
