Harboursandport.com: Abuja, Nigeria – June 12, 2026: The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd. has deepened collaboration with security agencies to combat energy infrastructure vandalism, following a joint inspection of a crude oil pipeline theft site in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The exercise, conducted on Tuesday at Pai Community in Kwali Area Council, involved the Industry Wide Security Architecture, IWSA, the Nigerian Pipelines & Storage Company, NPSC, the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA Special Prosecution Team, SPT, the FCT Police Command, the Nigerian Army, and other security stakeholders.
Officials said the joint taskforce visit underscores the government’s determination to safeguard critical energy infrastructure, strengthen surveillance, and deter criminal activities that threaten national energy security.
The inspection team assessed the vandalized section of the NPSC crude oil pipeline, highlighting the scale of damage and the urgent need for coordinated interventions to protect Nigeria’s oil and gas assets.
NNPC Ltd. noted that the collaboration reflects its broader strategy to integrate law enforcement, intelligence, and community engagement in tackling pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft.
Security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting NNPC’s efforts, stressing that protecting energy infrastructure is vital to national security, economic stability, and sustainable development.
The joint taskforce pledged to intensify patrols, expand intelligence networks, and prosecute offenders to serve as a deterrent to future acts of sabotage.
