The Court of Appeal in Lagos Tuesday, throw out the appeal by terminal operators under the aegis of Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria, STOAN, against earlier judgement on payment of shipping charges alleged to have been illegally collected from importers and their agents.

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), the Port Economic Regulator (PER), had asked terminal operators to refund revenue collected from shippers and their agents as storage charges over the years.
Following the NSC decision, the terminal operators had gone to court were they lost before heading for the appeal court.
The appeal of the terminal operators was dismissed and the judgment of the trial court upheld.
The case which came up at the Court of Appeal 1, Lagos, was presided over by Justice C. N. Uwa.
