Terminal is projecting a 71.4 percent growth in capacity utilisation of itself facility by the end of the year, its Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Innocent Obele, has said.
Chief Obele who made this known in Lagos, said Zenith Bonded Terminal grew its capacity utilization of the facility by 60 percent last year from the 3,000 TEUs in 2016 to 5,000 TEUs in 2017.
Obele also explained that they have put in place conducive environment for port business
to strive, especially since the port area is no longer conducive for smooth
port operations.
According to
him, “We are working at making Zenith a preferred destination for shippers
especially with the traffic situation in and around the port town of Apapa.
“We have also
acquired the relevant cargo handling equipment to make our operations efficient
and effective,” he noted
Confirming the
above, the Terminal Manager, Polycarp Uguchukwu, also told Vanguard that the
facility has adequate cargo handling equipment to ensure smooth and speedy
cargo delivery at the facility.
Uguchukwu
pointed out that the terminal has “two fuck-lifts, two Kamal cranes and a fleet
of trucks for those who want transfer from the port handled by us or want to
engage us in moving the boxes to their preferred destination.”
The
Terminal Manager also said that the facility is Neixi2 (the new Customs
e-platform for processing of document) compliant. He also said all the security
apparatus required at a conventional port are on ground at the facility.
He also noted
that apart from the conducive operating environment, there is also adequate
security at the facility both; both their own security personnel and officials
of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.
