Nwokeoji faults port access road reconstruction award to Dangote Group - Nwokeoji

Harboursandport.com: Lagos --- The contract of the reconstruction of the port access road from Apapa all the way to toll gate which has been awarded to the Dangote Group has been faulted by a renowned Customs Broker and immediate past Deputy National President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA, Emenike Nwokeoji.

Nwokeoji noted that if the government is very serious about quickly resolving the linger traffic gridlock along that route, they would not have given the job to only one company; it will have been broken down into three or four parts for the commencement of the work to make the work faster.
He said the government has no confidence in itself and are showing that they can no longer manage its resources; that is why they are awarding the contract to one company.

Reminded that Dangote Group contract says they are suppose to provide the funds for the reconstruction which will then be subtracted from his tax payment, he stressed that the work should have been shared into different parts so that it can be quicker because that road is the most important economic road in the country.

According to him, “If we are serious and we have reached the level of our challenge, why should we give such a road to Dangote alone? How many roads have they built and commissioned in this country before now? And then why the road must be given to one company considering the urgency that is required.”

“If somebody owes government which means government has lost confidence in itself that they can longer manage their resources. Why should a man owing you now be the one that will spend your money? Is that the proper thing to do? And apart from their tax, why can we not pick a company with a track record on road construction, the most important economic road in this country.”
