The Charted Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA) has
promised to tackle challenges of traffic congestion in the country, especially the
chaotic gridlock in Apapa, Lagos State.

the new CIOTA President in Lagos.
President of CIoTA, Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, made this promise at the
investiture ceremony held in Lagos.
Jamoh who is also The Executive Director of Finance and Administration
of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), said he will
work with other agencies to achieve the goals of the executive of the Institute.
He said that CIoTA will introduce short, medium and long term plans
to drive the transportation sector to a greater height. The CIoTA boss said the
institute will continue to contribute to the nation's GDP.
Bashir said transportation is life and will continue to add value to
human life. He added that no one can move from one place to another without
means of transportation.
Speaking at the investiture, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime
Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside, noted that
collaboration of other relevant agencies and professional bodies remains the
strong force for the development and effectiveness of the transportation sector
in Nigeria.
The NIMASA boss who was represented by the Executive Director, Maritime
Labour and Cabotage Services, Mr. Gambo Ahmed, made this statement in a good
will message at the event.
He stated that the agency will continue to work with professionals in
the transport and maritime industry to make the sector more viable and highly competitive.
He expresses happiness and delight for Jamoh’s emergence as President of
CIoTA at the election held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
