Customs Buries 658 Cartoons Of Frozen Chicken Worth N6.7m


Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa on Tuesday, buried 658 cartoons of frozen chicken with Duty Paid Value, (DPV), of N6.7 million. 

 Staff officer of the Command, Mr. Lawal Sahi Areshekwola, told newsmen that the Command made the first seizure of the buried items in early hours of 13th of this month at Afowo Water Front with a total of 608 cartoons of frozen chicken and the second seizure was made two days later at Amoni J. T. in Badagriy crick with a total of 50 cartoons of the same product.

Areshekola noted that the smugglers in a bid to go unnoticed, always operate at the night.

Areshekwola said they will continue to ruin the activities of these smugglers to ensure that anything that will sabotage the revenue government's revenue collection, including smuggling, is being dealt with. He advised smugglers to desist from the evil activities and look for something legitimate to do rather than engaging in illegal activities that may possibly destroy their lives.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Emmanuel Tanwgason added that the command will not relent in the discharge of her duties. He assured the government and entire public that the command has put every necessary arrangements especially during this festive period in place to ensure that they stop the activities of smugglers. He said officers and men of the Command, patrol the waterways 24 hours.
