Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria - April 8, 2026: The Nigerian Shippers’ Council, NSC has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and sectoral reforms with the signing of its 2026 Sectorial Performance Bond during a stakeholder engagement in Lagos.
The Honourable Minister of Maritime and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, presided over the signing ceremony, stressing that the bonds represent binding commitments that will be closely monitored to ensure a results-driven approach across agencies.
Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NSC, Akutah Pius, outlined the Council’s achievements in 2025, noting significant progress in the development of Inland Dry Port, IDP projects nationwide. He emphasized that these projects are central to strengthening Nigeria’s transport and logistics infrastructure, with strong backing from the ministry.
Dr. Akutah also highlighted the Council’s role in mediating disputes between port service users and providers, which he said has saved Nigerians billions of naira while boosting efficiency and transparency in the maritime sector.
Another milestone was the successful implementation of the Enterprise Content Management System, ECMS, which has fully digitized documentation processes within the Council. According to him, the transition to electronic documentation has streamlined operations, reduced delays, and improved service delivery to stakeholders.
Reaffirming the Council’s vision, Akutah pledged continued reforms and higher service standards to strengthen Nigeria’s port and logistics ecosystem in line with national development priorities.
