FOU Zone B Customs Intercepts 882 Bags Of Rice, Others Worth Over N230m

Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B Kaduna has intercepted 882 bags Of Rice, 124 cartons of unregistered Pharmaceutical products amongst other items worth over N230m.

In a statement made available to our correspondent and signed by the Customs Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Asci AH Dzungwenen noted that the Unit has recorded 105 seizures worth N236,834,525.53 from 26th April, 2022 to 29th June, 2022 at various locations within the Zone.

The Controller in charge of the Unit, Comptroller Albashir Hamisu stated that the seized items were 882 bags of foreign parboiled rice in 100kg, 50kg, and 25kg size bags, 34 of which were ingeniously concealed in 17 bags of 100kg local beans and 38 in 18 bags of 100kg local maize, 11 units of vehicles and 124 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products.

Other items intercepted include 273 gallons of 30 litres Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 177 bales of foreign second-hand clothing, 282 cartons of foreign Spaghetti and Macaroni, 73 pieces of foreign used tyres and 52 bundles of foreign new textiles.

In addition, the Comptroller received commendation from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Kaduna State Chapter as an appreciation for the Comptroller’s show of sportsmanship.

Comptroller AB Hamisu attributed the success of the unit to the improved capacity as a result of logistics and support received from customs headquarter, inter-agency collaboration and sharing of intelligence among sister agencies as well as information received from some patriotic Nigerians.
