Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Assistant Controller General, Federal Fire Service Zone F, Mr. Chika Njoku, has said that the Service has been saving the lives and properties of Nigerians since 1901.
Njoku, who disclosed this in Lagos, said the work of the Service has been risky and tedious, achieve our mandate through training and enlightenment among others.
He was speaking while receiving an award of the 'Most Outstanding Firefighter of the Year 2022' for his exemplary leadership, saying he is a dedicated public official par excellence; said the award shows that people watch what we do.
On his part, Njoku said: "The award is not a surprise because whenever one is doing something laudable, it is right to get recognised. We cannot be a player at the same time be the referee. It is left for the people who watch the way we play to say you have been given a pass mark for your good contributions.
"Since inception in 1901, we have been saving lives and properties. Though tedious, we achieve our mandate through training and enlightenment among others. This award shows that people watch what we do."
Similarly, the Convener of Cornel Media Consult, CMC, Mr. Cornell Udofia, said that the award is a result of Njoku's impressive contributions to securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.
He also noted that the award is also for his exemplary leadership, saying he is a dedicated public official par excellence.
In his words, "We have been celebrating the paramilitary, military, and other agencies for their contributions to Nigeria and humanity," he said.
