Harboursandport.com: Lagos - August 12, 2024: The Managing Director of Truck Transit Park (TTP) Nigeria Limited, Jama Onwubuariri has said that the deployment of it's electric truck management system has help increase export from Nigeria by over 200 per cent.
Onwubuariri, who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Vanguard, also said that that the deployment of the platform has helped in the reduction of haulage cost.
The TTP boss explained that has resulted in better traffic management system at the port corridor, therefore urging government to adopt the use of technology in other aspects of port operations to ensure efficient and effective services at the nation's ports.
He noted that unless government welcomes and makes a deliberate effort to deploy technology in port operations, the country will be left behind in the sub-region, continent and at the global level.
According to him, "We have also been able to assist the government towards reducing the cost of haulage, like wise help government in policy and reinforcement support that resulted in increase the volume of export to over 200 per cent out of the country."
As for the call for adoption of technology in port operations, Onwubuariri said "We support the call for digital platforms to be used as a basis of rendering public and private service and we have also suggested to some agencies of government how they can adopt technology to improve the quality of service that they render to the public.
"One thing is very clear and if our economy is to compete with our neighbours and with international players, we simply have no choice but to adopt tech
nology.
