Harboursandports.com: Lagos, Nigeria - February 7, 2025: The Nigerian Shippers' Council, NSC has attributed the delay in the commencement of its paperless operation to "technical issues".
Disclosing this to Harboursandport.com while responding to questions about delay, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Council, Pius Ukeyima Akutah, explained that some technical issues that cropped up last year delayed implementation as he had promised.
Recall that Akutah had promised that the Council would commence full automated operation by August last year.
Though the Shippers Council boss did not give details of the technical issues, Harboursandports.com authoritatively gathered that the delay was not unconnected to lack of funds.
A senior staff member of the Council who spoke to Harboursandport.com on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that availability of funds was responsible for the delay.
The source told Harboursandport.com "We were all set for the implementation, all the preparations have been made but funds remain the obstacle.
"The ES is very passionate about automating our operation and he kept driving us to ensure that the target he set for us during our management retreat last year was met but availability of funds stalled the process," the source said.
