Three Students Win AMSAY's Speech-Making Competition In Lagos

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - June 4, 2025: Three  students have emerged winners at the 9th edition of the just concluded Annual Maritime Students and Youth Conference AMSAY annual speech making competition. organised by Platform Communications recently held in Lagos.



The MD/CEO, Platforms Communications, Sylvanus Obasi said the AMSAY conference goes beyond speech making but youth-centric concession plan programme that converge both young and old, engage them in topical discussions aimed at proffering solutions to critical and contemporary issues.


He stated that it is also a platform that challenges Nigerian maritime students to contribute intellectually to development of the sector through participation in Fola Ojutalayo's annual speech-making competition.


"Indeed AMSAY Conference has given Nigerian maritime students and young maritime professionals a reason to imagine, to dream, to aspire and to hope for a better future", Obasi declared


The students who won the awards were Esther Olanrewaju - Obafemi Awolowo University, Anuoluwa Eliyah Egbetade - Obafemi Awolowo University and  Akinpelu Oluwaseun Abdul-Samad - Federal University of Oceanography and Marine Research.


Other students from various maritime institutions of higher learning also won best graduated maritime students awards of excellence in their academic pursuits.


 Director General, Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike, in her remarks at the occasion also enjoined students to seek skill acquisition in other ancillary areas of maritime instead on concentrating on boarding vessels.


She added out that there are other areas of specialization like digital marketing, soft ware development and amongst other areas which could be explored by students.
