Harboursandport.com: Accra, Ghana – November 4, 2025: The Sea Empowerment Research Centre Ltd has been formally welcomed as an official member of Ocean Centres Ghana, a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to advancing safer and more sustainable ocean economies.
The confirmation was conveyed by Nana Kwabena Boakye-Boampong, Country Lead for Ocean Centres Ghana and the UN Global Compact Network Ghana.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the UN Global Compact and Lloyd’s Register Foundation, aimed at fostering innovation, safety, and sustainability across key maritime sectors.
As a member, the Sea Empowerment Research Centre will gain access to: High-level dialogues shaping ocean economy reforms in Shipping & Ports, Fishing & Aquaculture, Offshore Renewables, and Finance & Investment as well as getting access to ten targeted workshops (eight in-country and two cross-country).
Other benefits are opportunity for a national network for co-creating projects aligned with local priorities; engagement opportunities with global and local experts and stakeholders and tools and guidance to integrate safety and sustainability into operations.
Ocean Centres Ghana will host a series of hybrid and online workshops in the coming months, ensuring inclusive participation. Members are encouraged to contribute case studies, insights, and challenges to help co-create practical solutions for the sector.
“Your expertise, commitment, and leadership will be instrumental in shaping ocean industries that are inclusive, resilient, safe, and sustainable — for the benefit of people, economies, and the planet,” Boakye-Boampong stated.
The Sea Empowerment Research Centre’s membership marks a significant step in strengthening Ghana’s blue economy through collaborative innovation and global best practices.
