God’s Sufficiency City of Hope Foundation Supports Widows, Elderly in Lagos

Harboursandport.com: Lagos – April 09, 2026: A newly established non-profit organisation, God’s Sufficiency City of Hope Foundation, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, embarked on a food outreach programme benefiting over 50 widows and elderly residents in the Akesan area of Lagos State.

Speaking during the outreach, the Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinyemi, said the initiative was driven by a desire to give back to society and support vulnerable groups, following her retirement from the Lagos State Civil Service after 30 years of dedicated service.

She noted that the programme was timely, as it was designed to support beneficiaries during the Ramadan Eid-al-Fitr and the forthcoming Easter celebrations.

“I have a passion for humanity—to touch lives and restore hope. After my retirement, I received a divine call to establish this foundation. We obtained the necessary approvals in September 2025 and have since set up a team of Trustees to drive its activities,” she said.

Mrs. Akinyemi emphasised that the selection process for beneficiaries was transparent and inclusive, ensuring that support reached those most in need.

She explained that the Foundation partnered with the Obadore Akesan Central CDA Executives, who helped distribute eligibility forms to identify widows and elderly individuals aged 65 and above within the community. The Foundation further conducted its own screening to validate the final list of beneficiaries.

She expressed appreciation to the Trustees for funding the maiden outreach and acknowledged the financial and moral support received from some CDA Chairmen in Akesan and the Alakesan of Akesan for releasing his palace as venue to hold the programme.

The Founder also called on well-meaning Nigerians and philanthropists to support the initiative to enable its expansion across Lagos State and beyond. She encouraged beneficiaries to remain hopeful and optimistic about the future.

In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abereijo Abidemi, Oduala I Ogunjobi III, the Alakesan of Akesan, commended Mrs. Akinyemi for her generosity and commitment to community service after retirement. Represented by High Chief Ismaila Aberuagba, the monarch assured the Foundation of the palace’s continued support and urged beneficiaries to remain positive and resilient.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Akesan Obadore Joint CDA, Alhaji Adeyemi Wasiu, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the impactful intervention.

“While some organisations have previously visited the community, the scale and quality of items provided by God’s Sufficiency City of Hope Foundation stand out. These supplies will sustain beneficiaries for over a month,” he said.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Roseline Iheanachu commended the Foundation for its fairness and generosity, noting that her nomination came through her CDA Chairman.

“This support is very significant, especially in this period of economic hardship. We are grateful and pray for continued growth and success for the Foundation,” she said.

The outreach also featured a social awareness session on coping with loneliness and emotional wellbeing, delivered by Mrs. Omisore Oluwakemi, as well as a motivational talk focused on hope, community love, and support.

Items distributed included rice, beans, garri, spaghetti, and groundnut oil.

God’s Sufficiency City of Hope Foundation is a Lagos-based non-profit organization with a mission to restore hope through life-changing support, inclusive opportunities and sustainable empowerment.

The Foundation focuses on Child education, youth empowerment, widow support, elderly care, advocacy for the marginalized, among others.
