Harboursandport.com: LAGOS, NIGERIA — July 16, 2026: In a bid to tap into the multi-billion dollar potential of Nigeria's maritime sector, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA has officially launched the Blue Economy Accelerator Programme.
The initiative is designed to discover, mentor, and scale innovative startups led by young Nigerians, driving sustainable growth across the nation's marine and blue economy.
The programme aims to attract vibrant, tech-savvy minds capable of transforming Nigeria's maritime ecosystem.
Selected participants will receive, Structured business development support to scale their ideas; Direct industry mentorship from seasoned maritime professionals and Technical guidance to turn raw concepts into commercially viable ventures.
Dayo Mobereola, the Director-General of NIMASA, emphasized that the initiative is built to bridge the gap between brilliant youth and capital.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Director/Head, Public Relations of NIMASA, Osagie Edward, the NIMASA boss said, "The programme reflects NIMASA’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the vision of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy in unlocking the immense potential of the blue economy by empowering young innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology-driven enterprises. We at NIMASA want to provide a platform for investors to identify young talents and invest in them."
Mobereola also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for establishing a clear roadmap through the Marine and Blue Economy Policy, which serves as the strategic foundation for this launch.
