Shippers' Council implores ANLCA to settle rift

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Executive Secretary Nigerian Shippers Council, NSC Barr. Hassan Belo has implored the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA to quickly resolve its leaders crisis
He charged both factions to cast their minds back to the past and relieve the nostalgia of the standard  organizational structure of the past leadership to serve as a motivation to this present administration to resolve their disagreements.
Executive Secretary, NSC, Hassan Bello

National Preside, ANLCA, Tony Nwabunike
Immediate past National President of ANLCa, Olayiwola Shittu

Bello discussed this during a courtesy visit  at the headquarters of Nigeria Shippers Council in Apapa by the Western Chapter of the ANLCA, noted that all lovers of a progressive maritime industry must wade into the crisis to resolve it soonest.
The Association have not had it easy following disagreements and conflicts over its leadership.
The Zonal Coordinator Western zone,  Comrade Dr. John Dan Katsina Ofobike and The President of ANLCA Mr. Tony Iju Nwabunike has been at loggerheads leading to the division of the association into factions because Nwabunike allegedly interfered in the administration of the Western chapter.

Bello expressed the fact that with ANLCA presently in disarray, the mandate of Shippers Council has somewhat been retarded, because of the lack of a united front for a stakeholders engagement, with a view to jointly articulate industry roadmap for the improvement of service delivery and trade facilitation with competitive charges and assuring international best practices.
He further noted that a united ANLCA would have campaigned alongside NSC to ensure that the unacceptable dwell time of cargoes is brought in line with internationally acceptable standards.
Adding that in the light of these, the Shippers council is of the view that rugged and tropically designed scanners, cargo tracking notes and other strategically designed processes and equipment are deployed to enhance trade facilitation in Nigeria, for the security and trade compliance of imports.

He  pleaded for introspection and soul searching, in order to disagree to agree to be united to forge a common front, for the collective benefit of Nigeria’s interest.
Shippers Council counseled members of ANLCA experiencing challenges in the Ports with Terminal Operators and shipping companies, to always send complains directly to it or copy shippers council whenever such complains are made to terminal operators or the shipping companies. That way, they will be aware of some of the challenges being encountered by members and, trusting NSC, solutions will be proffered.
