Harboursandport.com: Lagos - The Executive Chairman of International Market Association (Electronics), IMAE, Alaba International Market, Paulinus Ugochukwu, has applauded the role of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in riding Nigeria Markets of Sub-standard products.
Ugochukwu said that IMAE as an association has been collaborating with SON in the past, noting that they already have an existing committee whose duty is to ensure the prohibited/sub-standard products are not brought into the market.
He noted that Alaba Electronics is known to be the biggest single Electronics Market in Africa, adding that the leadership of this association is still ensuring that this market is known as a place where you can find standard, authentic, and genuine products.
He noted that SON has put measures in place to aid members of IMAE in the SONCAP registration and that SON has been extremely helpful.
In his words, “I wish to appeal for more time to enable some of our members who have commenced the registration process to come on board.
“There are several genuine businessmen and women especially in a market like ours that transact and do legit business and have customers in other Africa countries and I wish to appeal to the federal government to reconsider the re-opening of our border.
“In appreciation of the efforts put in so far in the power sector, it will be beneficial if the federal government can put in more effort in ensuring a regular power supply as this will help businesses and encourage the building of more factories in Nigeria and ‘’ will to appeal to the federal government to consider making the access roads to the market more motorable and pliable,” he concluded.
