CIVID-19: Okowa Deploys 2 Ambulance Boats To Delta Port

Harboursandport.com: Lagos - As part of measures to contain the spread of corona virus in ports and riverine communities of the state, the Delta State Government last week said it has deployed two ambulance boats to the Warri Port, in addition to the establishment of six approved testing centers under the watch of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

The state government said port communities and citizens dwelling at the riverrine areas will continue to receive equal attention from the state and federal government while reiterating its commitment to protecting indigenes and residents from the ravages of coid-19.
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye stated that dedicated ambulances have been put in place in addition to the two boat ambulances stationed at the Warri Port, with trained boat operators stationed to respond to emergencies and help in managing the spread of the disease. 
The minister further disclosed that Delta State settled for the monocular test methods which are very sensitive and looks for the particular gene components of the virus adding that in the country as a whole, there are for now, only 6 approved testing centers coordinated by the NCDC.
 The State has also set-up a COVID19 Team with personnel from all the States medical centers such as: Hospital Management Board, University Teaching Hospital and Federal Medical Center Asaba in collaboration with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, he said.
