The Seme Border Command of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has again intercepted 750 Jerey cans of smuggled Petroleum products with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of over three million naira.
Recall that the Command last week had earlier intercepted 31,500 litres of same products were with a DPV of over N5.3 million naira.
In a press statement signed by the Command Spokesman, Hussaini Abdullahi noted that 79 sacks of items suspected to be petroleum products were intercepted on at Oloko creeks along Badagry-Seme road.
According to statement, 750 jerry cans with 30 litres each of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) equivalent to 22,500 litres were discovered after a successful evacuation of the seized items to the Command premises where examination was conducted. The DPV is N3,318, 450.00 only.
While commending the uncompromising attitudes of his officers, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller BM Jibo urged them to intensify the fight by making the area less attractive for illegal activities and to ensure that National interest must be their priority.
"Customs will continue to pursue sustainable campaign against smuggling and ensuring that it is reduced to the barest minimum level" the statement read.
