One of the leading Presidential aspirants on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has suffered another setback as the Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed a suit that he filed to stop his planned probe over alleged N96billion fraud.
In a unanimous judgement by a five-man panel of Justices, the Supreme Court stated that it found no reason to prevent the Government of Rivers State from probing Mr. Amaechi over his alleged involvement in the illegal sales of valued assets belonging to Rivers State.
However, Justice Adamu Jauro held that the former Minister of Transportation lacked the merit and ordered him to go and face the Commission of Inquiry that was established by the Government of Rivers State to Investigate his tenure.
It alleged that Amaechi has refused to give account of some valued assets which include: Olympia Hotel, Eleme Gas Turbine, Omoku Gas Turbine, Trans Amadi Gas Turbine, Afam Gas Turbine and the Mono Rail Project which he allegedly awarded.
