Harboursandport.com: Seme Border, Lagos – December 2, 2025: The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS on Tuesday held a surprise send-forth ceremony for its former Public Relations Officer, PRO, Chief Superintendent of Customs, CSC Isah Sulaiman, as he prepares to resume duty at the Apapa Area Command. The event also doubled as a retirement celebration for the Head of the Scanning Unit, Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime.
Sulaiman, who assumed duty as PRO of the Seme Command on February 7, 2025, was praised by sister security agencies, Customs officers, and members of the media for his professionalism, humility, and dedication.
Senior officers described him as an “image maker per excellence” who upheld mutual respect in inter-agency relations and brought dynamism to his duties. They noted his effective communication, coordination, and passion for building bridges among stakeholders along the Lagos–Seme corridor.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, lauded Sulaiman as “one of the best PROs in the entire Customs Service,” adding that his presence made the job easier. Adenuga admitted he had delayed Sulaiman’s transfer to Apapa to stabilize the Command, saying, “If I have my way, I would cancel his transfer and make him stay longer.”
Members of the press also hailed Sulaiman as a “journalist’s delight,” citing his accessibility and deep understanding of his role.
In an emotional response, Sulaiman expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing Seme Command as “home.” He thanked Comptroller Adenuga for laying the foundation for his success and pledged to continue serving the country with dedication.
The ceremony also honoured Deputy Comptroller Audu Samson Edime, who retired as Head of the Scanning Unit. Speakers commended him for “finishing well” and assured him that retirement marks a new phase of service to the nation.
Nurudeen Audu, Director of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC Seme Command, encouraged retirees to remain active and pursue entrepreneurship, noting that NAFDAC is ready to support retired officers with post-service opportunities.
Comptroller Adenuga announced plans to organize entrepreneurship lectures for officers nearing retirement, facilitated by Dr. Audu.
In his remarks, Edime expressed gratitude to God and colleagues, saying he had no regrets about his career. “I will use the time on my hands to do useful things,” he affirmed.
The dual ceremony highlighted the strong inter-agency collaboration and goodwill fostered during Sulaiman’s tenure at Seme Command.
As he transitions to Apapa, and Edime begins retirement, both men were celebrated for their contributions to Customs operations and national service.
