Tantita Security Contracts Textron Systems to Deliver 6 Aerosonde® Mk. 4.7 VTOL

Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria January 5, 2026: Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, a leading Nigerian security provider has contracted Textron Systems Corporation to deliver six Aerosonde® Mk. 4.7 Vertical Takeoff and Landing, VTOL Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, UAS.

The agreement marks a significant step in bolstering Nigeria’s ability to safeguard its vital oil and gas infrastructure.

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, widely recognized for its role in protecting Nigeria’s energy sector, will deploy the new aircraft to expand surveillance and monitoring operations. The contract also includes options for training and additional aircraft, ensuring scalability as security demands increase.

Warredi Enisouh, Executive Director of Operations at Tantita, confirmed the deal, stating that it aligns with the company’s mandate from the Federal Government to safeguard critical national assets.

The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS is equipped with Hybrid Quadrotor technology, enabling vertical takeoff and landing without the need for runways.

This makes the system particularly suited to Nigeria’s diverse terrain, ranging from offshore oil platforms to remote pipeline networks. Textron emphasized that the aircraft will be delivered in a fully ITAR-Free configuration, simplifying export and deployment.

David Phillips, Senior Vice President of Textron’s Air, Land and Sea Systems, described the agreement as transformational.

“The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS is a mature, highly reliable, and industry-proven autonomous solution that will provide Tantita Security Services with transformational capability to execute their security operations,” Phillips said.

He added that the system’s proven reliability will help protect infrastructure essential to Nigeria’s prosperity.

The Aerosonde family of systems has already accumulated more than 700,000 flight hours in challenging environments worldwide. It has conducted missions across multiple continents and currently operates on over 10 U.S. Navy ships. This track record underscores the confidence both Textron and Tantita place in its ability to deliver results in Nigeria’s high-risk sectors.

Textron highlighted the Aerosonde UAS’s adaptability, noting that it can be equipped with various payloads and configured for both VTOL and fixed-wing operations. This flexibility allows the system to support a wide range of missions, from surveillance and reconnaissance to infrastructure monitoring.

The deal builds on Nigeria’s previous engagement with Textron through a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) contract, reflecting a growing partnership between the company and the country. By investing in advanced autonomous systems, Nigeria is signaling its commitment to modernizing security operations and protecting its economic lifelines.
