Harboursandport.com: Lagos- January 21, 2024: In a bid to further accelerate Nigeria's export growth, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate and drive the country's economic development. This resolution was reached during a strategic meeting between Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of NPA, and Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, CEO of NLNG, at the NPA Headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

During the meeting, Mshelbila expressed NLNG's profound appreciation for NPA's continued support and solicited increased synergy as NLNG expands its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production capacity to capitalize on rising global demand. He emphasized the importance of a seamless and efficient port operation in facilitating the growth of Nigeria's non-oil export sector.

In response, Dantsoho assured NLNG of NPA's unwavering support, emphasizing the Federal Government's mandate to enhance export orientation and drive economic growth through trade. He noted that the partnership between NPA and NLNG is pivotal in achieving this mandate, given NLNG's significant role in Nigeria's economic development and export growth since its inception.

Dantsoho also highlighted NPA's commitment to providing world-class port services, leveraging technology and infrastructure upgrades to enhance efficiency, safety, and competitiveness. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between NPA, NLNG, and other stakeholders to address the challenges facing Nigeria's export sector and unlock its full potential.

The partnership between NPA and NLNG is particularly significant, considering Nigeria's impressive trade surplus of 5.81 trillion naira (approximately 3.7 billion USD) in the third quarter of 2024, largely driven by exports facilitated through NPA platforms. This collaboration is expected to further boost exports, drive economic growth, and reinforce Nigeria's position as a major player in the global energy market.

As the Nigerian Ports Authority and Nigeria LNG Limited continue to strengthen their partnership, they are poised to play a critical role in driving Nigeria's economic growth and development through export trade.
