...Commends his Role in the Service Over the Years

Harboursandport.com: Lagos- January 19, 2025: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi on his 59th birthday, commending the Customs boss for his achievements since his assumption of office as the 14th Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS.
In a statement released by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Adeniyi's outstanding leadership since he assumed office in June 2023, highlighting the significant changes he has brought to the Service.
According to the President, Adeniyi's leadership in the Service has enabled the agency to reach important milestones, such as increased digitalization and automation of its processes. He stated that these innovations have led to greater efficiency, professionalism, and boosted morale among officers, which in turn has led to high performance and consistently exceeding revenue goals.
The statement reads, "His leadership has enabled the NCS to surpass revenue targets substantially and bolstered trade facilitation, yielding widespread positive effects on the national economy."
The president applauded the Customs chief for his innovative method of tackling smuggling. His strategies have involved providing young people with alternative skills for their livelihoods, building strong relationships with traditional institutions, and encouraging a culture of effective communication and mutual respect.
Other notable achievements in Adeniyi's regime include seizing arms and ammunition, as well as revitalizing the Comptroller-General’s Annual Conference, which serves as a platform for evaluating and enhancing the service's operations.
President Tinubu affirms that Adeniyi’s extensive experience of over 30 years in service and ability to adapt to change have significantly benefited the Customs Service
He prayed for divine wisdom, good health, and continued strength for the Comptroller-General as he remains committed to serving the nation.
