Harboursandport.com: Lagos, Nigeria - January 29, 2025: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS and all others involved in the implementation of the Single Window Project to ensure that a quarterly report his submitted to his office.
The President's position was made known yesterday at day one of the 3-day "National Single Window Stakeholders Forum" by his Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination/ Head of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit, Hadiza Bala Usman.
In her speech at the event, Usman said she wants to see within the two years deployment plan, as well as at what point will the implementation start in the second quarter.
The former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA also noted that it is important to know at what point deployment will start to ensure quarterly measurements of plan to ensure it's success.
According to her, "Whatever it is, let us know at what point we're going to start deploying and we'll continue to measure every quarter and internally every month. But for Mr. President every quarter."
She further pointed out that "I have discussed with the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS regarding implementation and we're going to be tracking. One of my jobs is also the Central Results Delivery Unit, CRDU of the President which I head.
"We track Presidential Priority Projects and the Single Windows is one of the key Presidential Priority Projects.
"So we're going to work with the team to look at the actual deliverables applicable within the work plan of deployment. I've seen a two year timeline for the ICT companies to deploy their services.
"I would also want to see within that two years, at what point would the implementation start in the second quarter, whatever it is, let us know at what point we're going to start deploying and we'll continue to measure every quarter and internally every month. But for Mr. President every quarter.
"So I would like us to recognise that we're going to be tracking it.
"I want us to know that what isn't measured, doesn't get done. So we have to have clear timelines, clear work plans or what is required for us to say this Single Window is functional.
"This is a system that is being used in Nigeria. And then we can now go towards monitoring and ensuring that it's functional across the board.
"What timelines are key, ensuring that we comply with timelines, ensuring that all agencies are looked in and all agencies are clear that this is the way to go and this is what Nigeria will do" she concluded.
